We experimented with magnets to see what happens when the poles are placed together. We were then able to experiment with materials to see which materials were magnetic. Most of our predictions were correct.

We enjoyed chopping and combining ingredients whilst listening to Greek music to create our gorgeous Greek salads today. Hope you enjoyed it at home!

As part of our science topic on 'Forces and Magnets,' the children were set the challenge to find out which surface causes the most friction. We used toys cars to find the answer.

As part of our English work on the book 'The wolves in the wall,' we had to describe our favourite teddy, explaining what they mean to us.

We have started to design and create our owl cushions, perfecting the art of running stitch and sewing on buttons!

We had a whole school assembly, learning about life in Antarctica. After that, we went back into class and paired up with a buddy. We had to create a diver and get him to float in the water. Once we had achieved that, we were given the challenge of making our diver float and sink in a bottle. We also learn about submarines and had to present our findings.

We had fun and raised money for Children in Need on Wednesday by wearing non uniform, buying Children in Need merchandise and watching Teachers Got Talent. We also designed and played our own Pudsey and Blush Bear board games.

We wore odd socks on Monday for the launch of Anti Bullying Week. We talked about the importance of everyone being different and equal. Our reading and writing work this week was centred around respecting difference.

We have started our team building workshops with Ellis and had lots of fun working in different groups developing our 'unity' skills.

We have started out new science topic on Rocks. We walked around school, trying to find examples of rocks. We look at the properties of rocks by testing their permeability, durability, density and hardness.

Fountains had a wonderful time learning all about Judaism when they visited the Jewish Heritage Centre for Children. They discovered all about Kosher food in the 'Kosher Kitchen', learnt about Jewish artefacts in the synagogue and explored what life was like for Jews in the 'shtetl', a recreated 19th century Eastern European rural village. A huge thank you to all the grown ups who helped on the visit!

We have been busy making our own shadow puppet theatres and have written our own versions of the story Owl Babies.

Year 3 had a fantastic time being 'owl detectives' during outdoor learning workshops with Lisa. They dissected owl pellets, learnt about food chains, beak adaptation and made a range of owl inspired crafts.

We had a fantastic time learning about owls. We made clay owls, clay masks, wood necklaces and wooden birds.

Outdoor learning day

We have been testing materials to see if they are opaque, transparent or translucent. We used this knowledge to design sunglasses to help to protect our eyes from the sun.

Well done to our Year 3 runners, who represent our school this week. We were the first to cross the finish line in both races, and both teams have progressed through to the Leeds Final and February. You did us proud!!!
