On Wednesday 13th March we took 50 St Margaret's musicians and choristers to watch the City of Leeds Youth Orchestra perform for their annual prom. This trip is full of inspiration and energy. Watching the young people perform on stage in an orchestra allows our children to see what is possible with hard work and commitment . We all thoroughly enjoyed being in the audience for the prom. We even got to see out Artforms specialist music teachers conducting their orchestras. Mr Roberts with the wind band and Mr Duffy with his jazz band.
This year we welcomed WestEnd Primary, Broadgate Primary, Featherbank Primary and Westbrook Lane Primary to perform in the annual 'Prom' at St. Margaret's church. The day was a huge success with our young musicians working together and forming new friendships all through their shared passion and love of music. The day was supported by our Artforms specialist music teachers, parent helpers and musicians from Horsforth High School. What a great day of collaboration and music making. Very well done to all involved.

Horsforth Schools Together Primary Prom DayWednesday 5th July 2017 Last year St. Margaret's hosted a Prom in collaboration with West End Primary school. This year was our second year of participating in the Prom. Our school band joined with musicians from West End , Broadgate and St. Mary's primary schools. The event was hosted at St. Margaret's church Horsforth. The children spent the morning rehearsing in sections before coming together to play as one large orchestra. It was amazing. What an opportunity our musicians have had. Special thanks to Mr Brendan Duffy who directed the day and brought it all together.
St. Margaret's joined forces with Temple Newsam Halton Primary and Whitkirk Primary School to put on a special day of music making. Our school band were fantastic! This is the first time we have travelled away from our home ground to play as part of a large ensemble. The children were a credit to our school. It was a very intensive day but the children had fun and made new friends from across the city. A brilliant day was had by all!

Our Key Stage 1 pupils had the opportunity to come together as an ensemble to produce a piece of music and perform at St. Margaret's Church Horsforth. Our piece was inspired by the film 'Frozen'. Can you guess the weather by listening to the music?
On the 4th July we held our first 'Music Appreciation' week. Each year group performed to their parents in a series of concerts that gave the children the opportunity to perform in front of an audience. We also hosted a 'Junior Prom Day'. We invited West End Primary school's orchestra to join our band and work together for the day. We also invited some musicians from Horsforth school to come and help our younger children. The day ended with a magnificent 'Prom'. All of the children loved being involved in such a fabulous day of music making! We will be hosting the event again next year and we will be sure to have the bunting and flags out for our first birthday prom day! Here are a selection of videos that showcase the talents of our young musicians!
