*From September 2020, Collective Worship will take place in classrooms within class/year group bubbles*
Collective Worship is central to the life of St Margaret’s Church of England School. Mrs Harridge leads worship every Monday. Children come together in their Phase to worship once a week. Members of staff lead worship in classes twice a week and the children also take turns to lead worship on a weekly basis.
We have a Friday Celebration Assembly each week where children are presented with certificates and awards. Their achievements both in and out of school are celebrated. We also welcome visitors to lead Collective Worship. Revd. Nigel Sinclair from St Margaret's regularly lead Worship. Horsforth Churches Together also visit school to lead 'Open the Book' assemblies which prove very popular with everyone.
During each act of Collective Worship a candle is lit to begin our special time together. Our school prayer is said at the end of our Worship time. The colour of the cloth on our reflection tables in the school hall and in our entrance area is changed according to the time of the Christian Year.
This table shows our half termly 'Christian values' or 'Values in Action' and will be our Collective Worship and whole school core value focus for each half term.
Our School Prayer
This is our school
Let peace live here
Let the school be full of happiness
Let love be all around
Love of one another
Love of mankind
Love of life
And love of God
Let us remember
That as many hands build a house
So many hearts make a school
In collective worship this half term we will be exploring our Christian Value of Perseverance. There are some ideas, facts and challenges in the sheets you can download below, based around the value of Perseverance.
