Learning Mentor

St Margaret’s C of E Primary School would like to appoint a permanent Learning Mentor to address barriers to learning for groups and / or individual pupils in order to enable them to reach their full potential. The role also involves developing and implementing study support and out of school activities. You could cover a variety of issues, ranging from punctuality, absence, challenging behaviour, SEMH and nurture. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates who enjoy a large, vibrant and happy workplace. Your tasks are likely to include: • liaising with staff to identify learners who would benefit from mentoring; • helping learners who are underperforming in their subjects, either on a one-to-one basis outside the classroom or within lessons; • implementing strategies and supporting learners in self-esteem and confidence-building activities; • listening to and helping learners resolve a range of issues that are creating barriers to learning; • drawing up agreed action plans with learners, outlining the aims of the mentoring, and monitoring their progress; • monitoring attendance and punctuality of learners; • advising parents on behaviour strategies and parenting skills; • networking with other learning mentors, teachers and relevant external agencies; • liaising with relevant professionals and individuals, e.g. educational psychologists, the police and social services; • maintaining accurate records and preparing written reports and evaluations; • managing your own professional development through undertaking relevant training and sharing best practice with other learning mentors; • helping with transition activities for learners moving to secondary schools. SEND Teaching Assistant

St Margaret’s C of E Primary School requires a permanent SEND Teaching Assistant, providing one to one support, Level 1, from 4th September 2017. St Margaret’s Primary School is a successful, inclusive, popular two form entry primary school with innovative and creative approaches to learning. We require warm and caring individuals who are able to develop a supportive relationship with children and their families for the purpose of improving educational outcomes, self-esteem, resilience and aspiration. Their work will include working one to one with SEND children, assessing need, delivering interventions and working alongside children in class. HLTA

St Margaret’s C of E Primary School would like to appoint a permanent Higher Level Teaching Assistant, to support teachers in delivering the curriculum and to cover PPA and Leadership time on a daily basis. Flexibility and confidence to cover classes throughout the whole school, if there are unexpected teacher absences, will be an advantage.
