As part of our castle topic we learnt about the type of foods available in a castle and what food grows in different seasons. We now have our own raised bed and planted Winter lettuce and spinach.

Maths

In Maths we have been using the "bar model" to develop our understanding of numbers bonds to ten and fact familes. We used conkers and gems as counters and wrote facts about our bars. We learnt that addition is commutative so it can be done in any order.

Skipton Castle

In October YR2 visited Skipton Castle as part of our topic about castles. The children had a wonderful time; they had a guided tour of the castle and visited each room. The guides were very impressed at how much the children already knew about castles. In the afternoon we made sketches of parts of the castle and re-enacted life in a castle.

Castle Banquet

At the beginning of November we had a Medieval banquet in the school hall. We had an amazing time dancing, playng instruments and telling jokes Our Lords and Ladies were kept busy dubbing lots of knights. We learnt all about Medieval heraldy and invented our personal coat of arms which decorated the hall. We had designed our own medieval menu and we enjoyed our feast.
